When was the last time you did something for the first time? That’s what’s so great about a vacation, everything is so new and interesting as you get to try food you have never tasted, meet new people, and take in the sights and sounds of a different culture. “Xanadu is the best of both worlds” we so often hear this from our guests who appreciate being away from the hustle and bustle but enjoy being able to get to restaurants, stores, and beach bars within a few minutes’ walk of the resort.
If you are an early riser, see the sunrise while lying on a deck chair with the prevailing wind to keep you cool. A chance to experience the great mystery of life, to say wow! the world is so much greater than myself…
The birds make an early start to their breakfast each morning. The abundance of trees and natural vegetation at Xanadu make a perfect home for indigenous as well as migratory birds.
When you’re ready for a bite of breakfast a two minute walk will bring you to The Baker, a super popular place for Xanadu guests to enjoy coffee, cinnamon buns, croissants, sandwiches and smoothies. Meet the owners, Ken and Emily, who come from Ireland and now call San Pedro their home. Leave with a loaf of warm fresh bread for a snack, or lunch a bit later.
Cross the road to the local supermarket – pick up a few essentials or try something Belizean like mango jam, plantain chips, or Marie Sharps hot sauces.
Another dining option, a five minute walk from Xanadu, is Rico’s Restaurant, with a beautiful and relaxing ambiance where you can sit out over the water and enjoy the stunning view. Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Their menu includes seafood, burgers, and of course key lime pie.
If you’re feeling energetic and want to explore, make use of a complimentary Xanadu paddle board, kayak, or bicycle, or pop next door to San Pedro Water Sports and rent a hobie cat or take a kite boarding lesson. Also here is Amber Restaurant for breakfast, lunch, or dinner in a “laid back, kick off your shoes” atmosphere.
Spend a lazy hour or two at Ocean Essence Spa – they offer a range of spa services with the couple’s massage being a firm favorite with Xanadu guests. Located just steps away from Xanadu and easy to arrange – just pop down to the office and the front desk staff will make the booking for you.
Relax a while reading at the pool at Xanadu while enjoying a fresh cocktail from the bar or lying on a hammock taking in the view.
Or wander around the gardens where philodendrons grow in their natural state, winding their way high up into the trees to get to the light, and lazy iguanas sun themselves on the rock waterfall.
Drop in to the office to set up a snorkeling, diving, or Mayan ruins tour…
Collect memories for life with a romantic dinner catered for you by Chefs for Hire and served on your suite deck or at the end of the Xanadu dock.
For a really fun experience take a lazy ten minutes stroll along the beach to Crazy Canucks Bar. Here you will find an authentic laid back atmosphere and friendly faces all around, happy dogs, people playing horse shoes, and amazing live music. Eat pineapple habanero wings, dance, or just chat for a while with locals and expats at this genuine island style beach bar.
